Company Milestones

2001/2002

Wansern Technology Sdn Bhd, currently known as WTEC Sdn. Bhd., was incorporated on 19 November 2001. Business operations commenced in 2002, focusing on trading polyurethane (PU) foam products. Initially, operations were conducted from a rented space in Mukim Sri Medan, Batu Pahat, Johor, owned by Wansern Foam—a company associated with a major shareholder of the Group. Additionally, a sales office was established in Puchong, Selangor, at a rented premise, known as the Puchong Office.

2004

To support growing operations, a terraced factory unit was rented in Shah Alam, Selangor, referred to as the Shah Alam Factory. The business operations were subsequently relocated from the Puchong Office to this new location. The Shah Alam Factory served as a warehouse supporting the trading business.

2005

The first export sales were secured for PU foam products, establishing a supply relationship with a foam product manufacturer in Singapore.

2006

In 2006, export operations expanded to Thailand, where PU foam products were supplied to a customer manufacturing components for the electrical, electronics, and automotive industries.

This year also marked the diversification into manufacturing foam products, facilitated by the installation of vertical cutting and die-cutting machines at the Shah Alam Factory. The initial production focused on foam products for the electrical, electronics, and packaging industries.

The customer base broadened to include the automotive industry, following the receipt of a purchase order to supply foam-backed laminates for manufacturers of passenger car seats.

2008

Efforts to grow in international markets continued, reaching Vietnam, where PU foam products were supplied to a local manufacturer in the electrical and electronics industry.

To support these operations, a new factory was established in Balakong, Selangor, in 2008, and all operations were transferred from the Shah Alam Factory to the Balakong Factory.

That same year, SB Adhesive was incorporated on 25 July 2008 and began its operations, specializing in solvent-based adhesive lamination.

2010

In October 2010, a land parcel of approximately 75,620 square feet was acquired by WTEC at Kawasan Perindustrian Kajang Jaya in Semenyih, Selangor. This location currently houses the Group’s head office and one of its manufacturing facilities, known as the PT 1558 Factory.

2012

Wanmei Specialty (WTEC's wholly-owned subsidiary that was incorporated on 1 November 2010) commenced business as a manufacturer of foam products from a space rented from Wansern Foam which is located in Mukim Sri Medan in Batu Pahat, Johor.

2013

The export market was further expanded to Australia with the sale of both manufactured and traded foam construction materials.

To accommodate business growth, construction commenced for the PT 1558 Factory on the acquired land in Kawasan Perindustrian Kajang Jaya.

During this period, the product range expanded to include parts for medical and personal protective equipment, driven by the first order from a manufacturer of industrial safety products.

2014

A high-frequency welding machine was installed at the Balakong Factory, enabling the joining of thermoplastic parts. In 2015, this machine was relocated to the PT 1558 Factory.

2015

The construction of the PT 1558 Factory was completed, and manufacturing and trading operations were subsequently transferred from the Balakong Factory to the new facility.

The factory was further equipped with the first flame lamination line, which became operational to support the production of foam-backed laminates.

2020

Operations began at a rented facility in PT 43141 Factory in October, located in Kawasan Perindustrian Kajang Jaya in Semenyih, Selangor, focusing on the splitting and slitting of foam materials.

2021

Business activities were initiated at a rented factory unit at No. 3, Jalan P4/1, Seksyen 4, Bandar Teknologi in Bandar Teknologi Kajang, Semenyih, Selangor. This location was later expanded to include the adjoining unit at No. 3A, collectively known as the No. 3 Factory. Operations at this facility encompass vertical cutting, contour and die-cutting, punching, and sewing processes.

2023

In July 2023, WTEC acquired the assets of SB Adhesive, which included a solvent-based adhesive lamination line that was subsequently installed at the PT 1558 Factory.

2024

In March 2024, the tenancy agreement for PT 43141 Factory was terminated. The machinery and equipment were relocated, and business operations commenced in May 2024 at No. 11 Factory in Bandar Teknologi Kajang, Semenyih.

2025

On 29 April 2025, WTEC proudly achieved a significant milestone by being officially listed on Bursa Malaysia. This accomplishment marks a new chapter in our journey, reflecting the hard work of our dedicated team, the trust of our stakeholders, and our ongoing commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.
